Privacy
What this site collects, why, and what you can ask of me. Written to the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules.
What I collect
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, and your first name if you give it. That is all the form asks for.
- Bookings: handled by cal.com when you book a call. What you enter there is covered by their privacy policy; I receive the booking details you provide.
- Server logs: IP address, browser and the pages requested, kept briefly to run the site and spot abuse.
- Usage statistics: if analytics are switched on, a self-hosted Matomo counts visits without cookies that follow you around.
What I use it for
- Sending you new posts by email, when there is something to send.
- Replying to you and arranging calls you book.
- Keeping the site running and secure.
- Meeting legal obligations.
I do not sell personal information, and I do not use it for anything else without asking you first.
The newsletter
- Your email address is required; nothing else is.
- It goes to my own self-hosted mailing list and nowhere else.
- Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and it works in one click.
- Opens and clicks may be counted to see what is worth writing more of.
Legal basis
Your consent, the fulfilment of what you asked for (a booking, a subscription), legal obligations, and my legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you can be informed, access what I hold, object, have it corrected, blocked or erased, take it with you, claim damages, and file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to what the task needs, and I keep personal information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
Transfers abroad
cal.com processes bookings outside the Philippines. Where personal information leaves the country, appropriate safeguards under the Data Privacy Act apply.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the new version appears here with the date it took effect.
