Software

The products I build with my companies, and the open-source tools I keep releasing alongside them.

Fiber-Calc

Fiber-Calc, built at ProNetivity Inc., is a browser-based toolkit for fibre optic engineers: design many links along their real routes, pick the SFP optics and check the link budgets, see the risk where links share infrastructure, keep the plant as assets, and hand the client a clean PDF.

Sample report (PDF, 2.9 MB): a planned 10 km link that fails, with its three paths (primary, protection, auxiliary), the diversity risk index, the explainer pages and the cable type decoder.

a 10 km route, mapped and passing
  • Route-first design of many links in one project, on satellite maps with KML import and export
  • A risk index for shared infrastructure: links that share a duct, a pole line or a path
  • Asset management for the plant: cables, closures, splitters and the optics in service
  • SFP optics selection from datasheet-verified FS.com, FlexOptix or your own catalogue
  • Link budgets following FOA methodology, checked against receiver sensitivity
  • Decoders for cable types, colour codes, PON standards and connectors
  • Nine standalone calculators, from PON splitter budgets to dispersion
  • PDF exports in five styles, for clients and as-built records
  • Reports sent by email straight from the app
  • Single sign-on, never served open

ExtrusionLedger

ExtrusionLedger, built at Immerse Networks Limited, is operations and cost management for 3D printing businesses: quoting, job tracking, material usage and profitability in one place, instead of a stack of spreadsheets. extrusionledger.com

  • Notifications by email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Mattermost and Matrix
  • Teams with roles, permissions and two-factor sign-in
  • Orders from quote to delivery, with 3D file preview
  • Branded PDF invoices and tax-ready exports
  • Inventory, suppliers and purchase orders

EXODUS

EXODUS, built at Immerse Networks Limited, is the proprietary, security-hardened embedded operating system, based on FreeRTOS, that ships on our monitoring and access-control products.

early development: setup mode, the node’s own access point
  • Secure provisioning mode for Wi-Fi and LAN
  • Automatic Let's Encrypt certificates via DNS-01 and deSEC
  • Door access, relays and inputs
  • MQTT with TLS and mutual TLS
  • Policy-based routing
  • Touch control panels
  • Interface failover
  • InfluxDB exporter
  • First-class IPv6
  • TLS 1.3 stack
  • WireGuard VPN
not for sale on its own, it ships inside the hardware

Lensmith

Lensmith, built at ProNetivity Inc., provisions IP cameras in bulk, on your own hardware or cloud hosted. Plug a rack of cameras into a switch and it adopts, updates, configures and readdresses each one to the project's standard. A rollout of 500 cameras that used to take three or four people two weeks becomes a few days' work for one.

every camera tied to its switch port, no flipping it over
  • Adoption, firmware upgrades, project-specific credentials and network settings, in one pass
  • Hikvision, Dahua, TP-Link and more, with support for further models being added
  • Autopilot works the whole batch through on its own, mixed-vendor included
  • Easy port identification: every camera tied to its switch port
  • Factory-fresh or already configured cameras
  • Automatic labels for every camera
  • Reads back what it writes
  • On premises or cloud hosted
500 cameras? one person, a few days

Kratosin the works

Kratos, being built at ProNetivity Inc., is a self-hosted platform that runs managed applications for each customer in their own locked-down container, and takes care of what surrounds them: TLS, DNS, sign-in, data services and backups.

  • One isolated container per customer and app, running as non-root
  • Shared PostgreSQL and MariaDB, a Redis cache per app
  • Backups and updates managed for each customer
  • Certificates and DNS handled automatically
  • An API and command line for the operator
  • Default-deny networking for every app
  • Single sign-on through OpenID Connect
  • Only images we have signed will run
built slice by slice, most of it already running

Your project?

Something custom that nobody sells: a provisioning tool, a monitoring node, a platform that fits how your people actually work. I like a good challenge! Describe it on a call and I will tell you whether it is a few hours or a few days.
